The Texas Sand Sculpture Festival
(Texas SandFest)
April 18, 19 & 20, 2008 Three-day Festival
Port Aransas, Texas
on beach, one mile south of Horace Caldwell Pier, near beach marker 9 - 11.

Wow...the fun starts even before SandFest:
April 12 - 11:00am - 2:00pm
Lesson Mountain - This is the Saturday before the event. Coastline
Adventures and Whataburger sponsors Lesson Mountain, where you can get free sand sculpting
lessons. Lessons will also be available during the festival.

14 - 17 - Master Sculptors will be working on a huge
centerpiece for SandFest which is over 250 tons of sand.
Friday April 18
The "Demo" is complete...see this incredible 250 ton sand
sculpture which serves as our event centerpiece. It will be up all
weekend.
8am: Masters Sculptors begin sculpting in the Island Sport's Solo &
Saturn's DUOs Master's Competitions.
9am: SandFest Raffle starts. Large number of
incredible prizes. On display at SandFest Central sponsored by the Law
Offices of Thomas J. Henry (by the huge centerpiece
sculpture)
9am: SandFest Souvenir Shops open. Located in SandFest
Central near the huge centerpiece sculpture
9am : Pith Helmet Auction opens. Wonderful unique pith helmets have
been painted by local artists and are auctioned off during the festival
at SandFest Central. (by the huge centerpiece sculpture)
Noon: Vendors set up - Food - Art - Jewelry - Crafts - and much more
Noon-5pm: Youth Tent - Sand box, games, coloring contest,
shell game, crafts, books to read...
2pm-5pm: "Lesson Mountain" free sand
sculpting lessons sponsored by Coastline Adventure and Whataburger.
4:30pm-6pm: Live beach music - In the Sandcastle Condo Visitors Tent.
5pm: Masters stop sculpting for the day.
Saturday April 19
7am: Pro-Am sand sculpture contest begins. (7am-4pm)
8am: Master Sculptors begin sculpting for the second day.
9am: Amateur sand sculpture contest begins. (9am-4pm)
All Day: SandFest Raffle continues. Large number of
incredible prizes. On display at SandFest Central sponsored by the Law
Offices of Thomas J. Henry (by the huge centerpiece
sculpture)
All Day: Pith Helmet Auction continues. Wonderful unique pith
helmets have been painted by local artists and are auctioned off during the festival
at SandFest Central. (by the huge centerpiece sculpture)

10:30am: Victims of Circumstance in the Entertainment

in the Sandcastle Condo’s Visitors Tent.
(Your pet may win the Prettiest, the Shortest, the Friendliest…pet at
SandFest).

Sunday April 20
7am: Sunrise Service, Non-denomination, Reverend Richard Safford, in
the Entertainment Tent.
7am: Master Sculptors begin sculpting for the third and last day.
9am: Vendors set up - Food - Art - Jewelry - Crafts - and much more.

10am: South Texas Grass Roots - Bluegrass in the Entertainment Tent.
9am-2pm: SandFest Raffle continues. Large number of
