Master Contest Rules (Solo & Duo)
Island Sports Masters Solo Contest
Duo Contest sponsored by The Saturn Corporation
 | 1. Plots: All your work must be done within your designated
plot. You can only use the sand from within your
designated plot. Plot sizes
- Solo 20' x 20'; Duo 30' x 20'.
Any decorative materials must be biodegradable
(shells, seaweed, etc.) Nothing may be added to the sand except water. No
artificial color, paints, no flour, sugar, cement, clay or adhesives, etc.

2. Only the Master Sculptors
are allowed inside their designated
plot.

3. You may spray sealant on your finished work. (We will
provide)

| 4. 2008 Dates & Times:
April 14-16, Tuesday-Thursday: Demo is completed.
April 16, Thursday: 7:00pm Organizational Meeting.
April 17, Friday: 8:00am until 5:00pm. (Mandatory 45 min. lunch, approx
11:30 to 12:15)
April 18, Saturday: 8:00am until 4:30pm (Mandatory 45 min. lunch, approx
11:30 to 12:15)
April 19, Sunday: 7:00am until noon (Winners announced at 2:00 pm)
Anyone working before the start time or after the
stop time
will be disqualified. You are, however, allowed to spray your work after the stop time.

5. Forms:
Forms (if used) must be removed before judging.
No sculptured forms allowed.
Compacted sand must be sculpted and altered by
hand upon removal of forms. The use
of "melon-ballers" over 2" in diameter is prohibited unless
the sand is reshaped.

6. No powered equipment, screw guns, or machinery is allowed
inside
your plot.
|
|
7. Signs: Each master can bring/have a sign, not larger than
22" by 30", but it shall be placed outside, not inside, their plot.
|
|
8. DDC - Decency
Clause: All sculptures must be appropriate for our Family-Oriented Festival.
Both our public and sponsors feel strongly that the sculptures should not
include anything which might offend anyone.

9. Sculptures will be judged in the round.
|
|
10. All judge’s decisions are final.
|

SOLO CONTEST:
People’s Choice Award = $200 (donated by
Friends of SandFest)
(The public votes on Sunday for their favorite
sculpture)
Third Place = $400 (donated by
Island Sports)
Second Place = $800
(donated by Island Sports)
First Place =
$1,500 (donated by Island Sports)
DUO CONTEST:
People’s Choice Award = $300 (donated by Friends of SandFest)
(The public votes on Sunday for their favorite sculpture)
Third Place = $500 (donated by The Saturn Corporation)
Second Place = $1,000
(donated by The Saturn Corporation)
First Place = $2,000 (donated by The Saturn Corporation)
