2008 rules:

We realize that there is no perfect way to judge a master's competition and it is a difficult and controversial problem.   It is extremely subjective AND the sculptors don't even agree on the best method.  That means that no matter what system we select, some sculptors will like it and some will not.  We considered the different options and the majority (barely) of the sculptors prefer "self-judging."  In 2008 we will have both Solos and Duos which will allow us to have the Solo masters judge the DUO masters and the DUOs judge the Solo contest.  This way all the judges are master sculptors but they will not be judged by their direct competition.   Additionally, there will be a small "Peoples Choice" award, selected by the public.
The sculptors will be asked to look at the Degree of Technical Difficulty, Originality & Imagination, and Artistic Merit and determine how they rank the other sculptures in the competition.
