Dates: April 17-19, 2009.
This will be our thirteenth annual festival. In 2006 we added a DUOs (2 person
teams) to our SOLO competition and it was a great success so we have continued having
both the SOLOs and the DUOs. The show gets bigger and better
every year. We had 24 master sculptors competing at SandFest 2008. That makes us THE largest master sand competition in the
US!
IN 2008, we had 24 Master Sculptors from all over the world
(Italy, Netherlands, Canada, the US, and the Ukraine).
Includes both a Solo and Duo Master's Contests.
Over 200 amateur sand sculptors.
Three-day Festival.
5 different sand competitions.
Draws over 100,000 visitors.
The master sculptors will be competing for over
$8,000 in cash and prizes.
They will each be working 21 hours on their sculptures.
Island Sports Masters Solo Division:
There will be approximately 10 master sculptors from all over the world.

There will be 14 master sculptors from all over the world, working in
two-person teams.
CenturyTel Amateurs & Sandcastle Condo's Pro-Am:
Our Amateurs had gotten so good that we added a new "intermediate"
category for the sculptors who are not masters yet but are by no means amateurs
either. Between the CenturyTel Amateurs and the Sandcastle Condo's Pro-Am we have
over 50 entries.
Some are solo and some are teams, together they will total over 200 amateur sculptors.
Our Entertainment Tent
has free live music and activities.
Coastline Adventures and Whataburger sponsors "Lesson Mountain"
which has free sand sculpting demonstrations and
lessons. Hundreds of people (young and old) take advantage of the free
lessons and many hundreds more watch. Many of them go on to enter the
sand sculpting contests.
